The blue chip index SMI® is the most important stock index in Switzerland and comprises the 20 largest stocks from the SPI. The SMI covers approximately 80% of the total capitalisation of the Swiss equity market. It is free-float-adjusted, which means that only the tradable portion of the shares is taken

As a blue-chip index, the SMI ® is Switzerland's key equity index. It represents about 85% of the free-float capitalisation of the Swiss equity market. The SMI ® comprises the 20 largest and most liquid equities of the SPI ®. The Swiss Market Index (SMI) is Switzerland 's blue-chip stock market index, which makes it the most followed in the country. It is made up of 20 of the largest and most liquid Swiss Performance Index (SPI) stocks. As a price index, the SMI is not adjusted for dividends.
